Saggy Jeans Foil Robbery After Tripping Thief

A pair of saggy jeans helped to foil a robbery in Brooklyn on Tuesday after a thief tripped over his low hanging trousers, which allowed a pursuing officer to apprehend him.

In hindsight, Joel Donaldson should have worn a tighter pair of jeans as they were the only reason why he was easily arrested after his garment choice stopped him as he ran away from the scene of the crime.

Police were then easily able to catch up to him and place him in handcuffs.

It’s been alleged that the 21-year-old began his crime spree by punching his victim in the face. He then snatched her phone at Court and Remsen streets, only steps away from Borough Hall in Brooklyn, New York, at 2:30 pm on Tuesday.

He then began to sprint away from the incident but was soon stopped in his tracks by his own pair of jeans.

Donaldson was showing off most of his underwear because of his fashion choice, which left the bottom of his trousers perilously close to his ankles. They continued to slip down even further, which lead to his speed rapidly decreasing.

A nearby police officer, who was busy directing traffic at the time, saw the entire incident unfold and began to take chase before making the easy arrest after Donaldson had all but stopped running to adjust his trousers.

It’s been reported that Donaldson only ran around a block before they fell completely around his ankles. This allowed the officer to tackle him to the ground around Joralemon Street, before arresting him for the offence.

Arlene Williams, a witness to the ordeal, remarked, “He was zigzagging all over the place, but he couldn’t run because his pants was falling down. This cop saw it, and he went right after him.”

Donaldson was arrested just two blocks away from Brooklyn Criminal Court, and police officers have confirmed that he has since been charged with robbery and assault.
