NewsGator Signs Universal McCann For Social Sites Product, “Facebook For The Enterprise”

NewsGator has signed a deal with global media agency Universal McCann to deploy its full-service internal social computing platform based on NewsGator Social Sites and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

The deal will focus on using “innovative Enterprise 2.0 technologies” to improve communication and the flow of information across Universal McCann’s 90 offices in 66 countries. The combined Social Sites and Office SharePoint Server 2007 solution provides Universal McCann with a social computing platform that includes social networking, communities, RSS, and blogging in an easy-to-use interface.

Newsgator is best know as a RSS tools provider, and I wasn’t aware of Newsgator’s Social Sites product prior to this announcement. There is more details on the Newsgator site here, but below is a demo video of what the package can offer. Notably NewGator Social Sites is described as “Facebook for the Enterprise.”
