‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Jack Gleeson Says Balancing Work And School Is Easy [Video]


Game of Thrones star Jack Gleeson might be balancing work and school at the moment, but the actor wants you to know that he’s having no trouble keeping things on-track.

During a brief chat with the folks at TV3’s The Morning Show, the young actor said he divides his time between portraying King Joffrey and studying at Trinity college. Although some folks have trouble keeping a job while attending class, Gleeson revealed that striking a balance is relatively simple.

“It just worked out that they don’t coincide, in that Game of Throne films during the summer. We only start up in October and finish in May with Trinity so it’s linked up really well. It’s been really easy to manage,” Jack Gleeson explained during his interview on Friday (August 23).

Although the Game of Thrones star is quickly making a name for himself, that doesn’t mean Gleeson doesn’t take the time to geek out over his co-stars. One individual he’s incredibly happy to work with is the always-enjoyable Sean Bean.

“I’d know him mostly from The Lord of The Rings movies which were just a massive deal so to be on the same set let alone acting with someone like Sean Bean you kind of just have to keep pinching yourself,” the actor said.

In order to prepare for his role as King Joffrey, Gleeson said he spent some time studying director Ridley Scott’s 2000 action flick Gladiator. The actor revealed during his chat with The Morning Show that he based his performance on Joaquin Phoenix’s turn as Commodus.

“His portrayal of evil in that was very inspiring. It was subtle but very visceral and kind of tangible, his creepiness made your spine shiver,” Gleeson said.

Game of Thrones fans will be able to continue the epic adventure very soon. HBO intends to have the next season ready to roll at some point next year.
