‘Guardians Of The Galaxy': Marvel Boss Reveals Main Villain

Guardians Of The Galaxy Thanos

Marvel head Kevin Feige recently dished about which villains will be found in director James Gunn’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy adaptation.

Feige also confirmed that Marvel’s Phase Two films will all take place at the same time. In other words, Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier are all unfolding during the same period.

“We’ve already said that Thanos plays a part in it and is a character in it. That should tell you it’s connected to the other worlds,” the Marvel head recently told Empire magazine.

Thanos was previously confirmed for Guardians of the Galaxy. Although the iconic character will play a significant role in Gunn’s adaptation, he won’t necessarily be the main threat in the flick. According to Feige, that honor is going to the villainous Ronan the Accuser.

“And Thanos is lurking above it all. You will learn more about Thanos in ‘Guardians,’ for sure. Certainly you’ll get more than the one turn around and smirk. You’ll get much more than that,” Feige added.

Filming has already begun on the Slither director’s big-budget superhero flick. Although most of the roles have been cast, one character who doesn’t have an actor is Rocket Raccoon. The Inquisitr previously reported that Bradley Cooper is being courted for the part of the furry fighter.

Gunn previously stated that he was taking his time to find the right person to bring the hero to life. The filmmaker believes the character is a very important part of the Guardians story.

“It’s about creating a character that’s a little animal that’s taken and experimented on, pulled apart and put back together again and implanted with cybernetics. He’s half machine and half raccoon and he’s a little gnarled, miserable pretty angry creature because there’s nothing else like him and that’s not easy to be,” Gunn explained earlier this year.

Guardians of the Galaxy will invade theaters on August 1, 2014.
