Scooter Braun Wanted By Jennifer Lopez For American Idol Judge, Not Rumor

Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun is in the running for a seat on the 13th season American Idol judges panel.

According to Us Weekly, Braun — who also manages Carly Rae Jepsen, Ariana Grande, Psy, and The Wanted — is currently in talks with bosses at the Fox show.

There’s another twist. While Jennifer Lopez hasn’t yet been officially announced as a returning judge although it’s pretty much a formality, the publication claims she is the big name pushing for Braun.

Gossip Cop have since confirmed Lopez, who sat as a judge in 2011 and 2012, does indeed want Braun as the third judge.

“Jennifer loves Scooter and feels he’d be an excellent choice. She would love him to be a judge,” a source tells Us.

Following the exits of Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, and Randy Jackson as judges, country star Keith Urban has been confirmed for his second Idol season.

However, according to reports one of the negotiation sticking points for Braun is his condition that he manages the eventual Idol winner.

That perk currently belongs to show creator Simon Fuller.

It’s claimed prospective judge talks with Kanye West and Lopez’s ex-beau Diddy came to nothing.

As a result, Katy Perry producer Dr. Luke may be the only competition for Braun, if he even wants the role as the third judge.

Some commentators believe Braun may be a contentious Idol choice due to the polarizing nature of his biggest artist, Bieber.

One such observer, Matt Carter notes: “Not everyone in the world of music really likes Bieber, and some of that blowback would likely come back and hit Scooter on a certain level. If people do not like the singer, they could be turned off if Scooter drops his name often.”

It remains to be seen whether Braun will complete the judges trio of Urban, and reportedly Lopez.

But for a show that currently hemorrhaging ratings, Idol could do a lot worse.
