Rizzoli & Isles Pays Silent Tribute To Lee Thompson Young [Video]

The TNT cop drama Rizzoli & Isles paid quiet tribute to series co-star Lee Thompson Young by dedicating its most recent episode to his memory.

The former Disney star failed to show up for work earlier this week, and was discovered dead in his apartment shortly thereafter. His death has been ruled a suicide, though the 29-year-old actor did not leave any note or context in his diary for his tragic decision.

Young played Boston homicide detective Barry Frost in Rizzoli & Isles, and Tuesday night’s episode closed with a tribute to the actor. The message onscreen read:

“In loving memory of Lee Thompson Young, 1984 – 2013” along with a silent montage of clips of the late actor in his role.

The series has halted production following news of Young’s death, and it is unclear how long this hiatus will continue. Cast and crew obviously want afforded time to grieve their co-star, and the writers will need to figure out how to write his character off the show.

The show’s executive producer Janet Tamaro also paid tribute to the late actor, saying:

“Everyone at ‘Rizzoli & Isles’ is devastated by the news of the passing of Lee Thompson Young. We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. He was truly a member of our family. Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him, both on and offscreen, for his positive energy, infectious smile and soulful grace. We send our deepest condolences and thoughts to his family, to his friends and, most especially, to his beloved mother.”
