David Cassidy Busted For Drunk Driving In New York

Singer David Cassidy was arrested early Wednesday for drunk driving in Schodack, New York, according to multiple news outlets.

According to Fox 23 News, the Schodack Police Department announced that they had arrested the former Partridge Family star after stopping him around 2AM Wednesday morning. The 63-year-old was pulled over by a routine Stop-DWI enforcement detail.

After determining that he was intoxicated, Cassidy was arrested and charged with Felony DWI and Failure to Dim Headlights. He was arraigned in Schodack Justice Court and taken to Rensselaer County Jail where he posted $2,500 bail.

TMZ reports that the arresting officer, Tom Jones, smelled alcohol on Cassidy’s breath and administered a field sobriety test. Cassidy blew a.1 and was cuffed.

The gossip site also says that Cassidy’s stepmom, Shirley Jones, recently said that the actor / singer is deeply troubled and is struggling to overcome his demons.

This isn’t the first time David Cassidy has been busted for drunk driving. Back in 2010, he was arrested for DUI in Florida. He failed several field sobriety tests despite telling the arresting officer that he had not been drinking, save for a glass of wine at lunch and a hydrocodone pill for pain.

At the time, his spokeswoman, Jo-Ann Geffen, said that Cassidy was taking pills for back pain, but that he was not drunk.

“He would never jeopardize anyone on the road and he would not have been driving had he not had to go to a funeral… he’s never been arrested in his life before for anything,” she said.
