Jen Koczan Reunited With Stolen Dog Five Years Later

When Jen Koczan’s dog was stolen from her five years ago, she never expected to see her again, but after a crazy turn of events, she was reunited with her pet Sunday night.

According to ABC News, the dog had turned up at the Anti-Cruelty Society in Phoenix, Arizona.

Thanks to a computer chip, animal welfare was able to locate Jen and inform her that her dog, now 8-year-old Sasha, had been taken to the Anti-Cruelty Society.

“I never thought I would see her again,” Koczan said. “I thought about her all the time. I wondered what happened to her. I still have pictures of her. She was a part of our family.”

“I don’t know where she’s been or who she’s been with,” she said. “I just hope that whoever had her gave her a good life before she ended up at the shelter in Phoenix.”

While Koczan had been very excited about the news that her pet had been okay, she didn’t have much time to celebrate.

The shelter gave Koczan only a couple days to figure out how to get Sasha before they would euthanize her.

At this point, Jen Koczan wasn’t sure what she was going to do, or how she could get her beloved pet home.

According to ABC News’ John Garcia, a volunteer organization called Kindred Hearts Transportation Connection came to Koczan’s aid.

Staci Goveia brought Sasha to a park in Lake Station after a network of volunteers around the country each drove a portion of the way from Phoenix to Indiana.

“It’s moments like this we do what we do, Goveia said. “Seeing the dogs back with their owners. Great.”

According to the report, it took two weeks and some 26 volunteers driving short segments of the trip with Sasha before she finally made it home to Koczan in Lake Station, Indiana.

“It’s nothing short of a miracle,” Koczan said. “Life’s come full circle. Amazing.”

What do you think of the amazing journey home for Sasha and her owner Jen Koczan?
