‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Star Rumored For ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Lead

Ready for your latest Fifty Shades of Grey rumor? Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam is the latest name attached to the lead role of Christian Grey.

An unconfirmed report from Twitch suggests that the 33-year-old British actor, best known for playing SAMCRO Vice President (and later President) Jax Teller on the FX biker drama Sons of Anarchy, could be in the running for the lead role in the upcoming film adaptation of the popular E.L. James novel.

Per Twitch:

“Already firmly ensconced within fanboy circles thanks to his breakout TV role and his ongoing relationship with director Guillermo Del Toro – who has also cast Hunnam for his upcoming Crimson Peak – Twitch has learned that Hunnam has emerged as producers’ prime target to play, and I quote, ‘handsome, yet tormented billionaire’ Christian Grey.”

So how true is this rumor on a scale from one to bullsh**? Well, we don’t really know, but we don’t think it’s terribly likely that Hunnam would go for it. He’s definitely a handsome guy with rugged charm, but he’s kind of a far cry from the Patrick Bateman image we’ve come to expect.

Not only that, Hunnam is a far cry from the other pretty boy actors associated with the role right now. Ian Somerhalder and Garrett Hedlund, he ain’t.

And at the end of the day, he’s just too bad ass for it.

But hey, it could happen. Another rumor suggests that we should be expecting some concrete casting information on the Fifty Shades of Grey movie soon. So far, we’ve got director Sam Taylor-Johnson, screenwriter Kelly Marcel, and a release date of August 1, 2014.

Do you think that Charlie Hunnam could play Christian Grey?
