Game Of Thrones Actress Unknowingly Stars In Anti-Rape Campaign

Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke is the new face of an anti-rape campaign in Russia. Kind of.

The new ad in Yekaterinburg, Russia, features Emilia Clarke’s face but the actress did not give the campaign her permission.

UPI reports that the ad identifies the woman in the photo as 24-year-old Anya. Clarke’s name is never actually used on the ad but the photo is clearly of the Game of Thrones actress.

The ad reads: “I suddenly noticed that for the last couple of years I’m not afraid to walk at night in Yekaterinburg. I now have confidence that the city is safe, that no-one will attack me or rape me. It’s so cool… There are only few people on the streets, the streets have lights, the city is fresh and incredibly beautiful. Especially after it has been raining.”

The creators of the ad, who have not been identified, said that they knowingly used a photo of a famous person and admitted that they used Emilia Clarke’s photo without her permission. But the company doesn’t seem to have any plans of removing the ad.

Digital Spy obtained a statement from the company that reads: “We selected a famous and beautiful actress on purpose, to make it clear that this is a fantasy… Next time we will write more clearly. Sorry. Our internet post which was a fantasy with a photo of Emilia Clarke, famous for the TV series Game of Thrones, has caused a strange resonance. We assure you, Daenerys Targaryen [Clarke’s Thrones character], in this case, is just a beautiful woman. We don’t claim that we have her support, even though we would not be ashamed to show her Yekaterinburg after implementation of the ‘Capital’ program.”
