New Tennessee Uniforms By Adidas Are ‘Smoky Gray’

The new Tennessee uniforms unveiled this week are causing a stir.

Adidas created the new Tennessee uniforms, a departure for Vols fans from the standard assertive orange. While some were wary of the update, it seems that the muted look of the new garb has satisfied most college football fans.

CBS college football writer Tom Fornelli was one of those expecting a Vols fashion nightmare, but he says he was pleasantly surprised by the updated new Tennessee uniforms — he explains his stance:

“As I’ve documented on this blog over the last few years, when it comes to new uniforms Adidas is a plague upon the sport of college football. So I cringed when I learned that Adidas would be creating a new alternate uniform for Tennessee this season, but you know what? They’re not bad.”

Fornelli is quick to add that the new Tennessee uniforms’ decent outcome does not forgive Adidas for their past transgressions, but seems pleased with the look.

Bleacher Report was alight with discussion of the new duds for the Vols, with one commenter opining:

“Very nice. A nice addition would be gray helmets with the orange T. Or Maybe a helmet with Pearl White metallic paint and the T in an ultra bright Orange metallic.”

Coach Butch Jones commented on the new Tennessee uniforms as they were unveiled:

“We are excited at our lineup of adidas uniforms for Team 117 this season… The Smokey Gray uniform is a great addition for our program, and we believe will help our current and future student-athletes add to the strong tradition we have here at Tennessee.”

What do you think of the new Tennessee uniforms? Is smoky gray a good look for the players?
