Chris Brown Sued By Frank Ocean’s Cousin Over Parking Space Brawl

Chris Brown is being sued by Frank Ocean’s cousin, Sha’Keir Duarte, who is accusing the singer’s bodyguard of beating him up earlier this year.

Brown and Ocean got into a fight over a parking space outside the Westlake Studio in West Hollywood in January. Brown was allegedly blocked by Ocean and his people, and Ocean supposedly told Brown, “This is my studio, this is my parking spot.” One of Ocean’s people then attacked Brown when he attempted to shake hands with the 23-year-old Channel Orange singer, and then one of Brown’s friends jumped in and hit Ocean on the head.

Ocean’s account of the incident differed, and he tweeted that he was jumped by the 24-year-old Fine China singer and a couple of other people.

Ocean initially filed a battery report against Brown, but he later dropped it, despite the fact Brown called him a homophobic slur and threatened to shoot him. In June, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office was trying to decide whether or not to prosecute Brown for the fight if there was compelling evidence.

Sha’Keir Duarte has filed his own lawsuit for assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and conspiracy to commit battery. Duarte is also claiming that Brown encouraged his bodyguard, Hood, to attack him. He said Hood punched him in the face and kicked him about a dozen times while Brown encouraged him. Duarte said Brown also called him the n-word.

Duarte is suing for unspecified damages, and claims that he suffered a concussion and mental anguish from the attack.

Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos called the lawsuit frivolous.

“This is what gives lawyers and lawsuits a bad name is garbage like this,” he said. Geragos said he will seek to have the suit dismissed and will file a countersuit.
