Drew Barrymore Parenting Fears: Not Wanting A Lonely Only Child

Drew Barrymore shares parenting advice and more in the September fashion issue of InStyle. It’s her seventh time as their cover girl, which means that she’s been on the InStyle cover more often than any other celebrity.

There’s a sneak preview of Barrymore’s interview with Ariel Foxman on the InStyle website.

Her daughter Olive with husband Will Kopelman is still a bit under a year old. But Barrymore is already thinking ahead to a larger family.

According to Yahoo! OMG! the 38-year-old actress said she was lonely growing up as an only child. Therefore, she wanted to have at least two children so that “they can run around life together, roll their eyes at their parents together.”

Drew Barrymore’s parenting thoughts

  • “I have anxieties about how much I’d like to get it right, making sure I provide her with an environment that’s safe, nurturing, and loving.”
  • “I’m entering my 40s, and now I get to step back and take these incredible, extraordinary life experiences and…apply them to being a parent.”
  • “Oh my god, this is what being a parent is. It’s a lot of pride and a lot of nervousness.”
  • “Life does not provide you with an easy ride.”

I’m not sure I find these thoughts as deep as InStyle does. From the sound of things, the first-time mother certainly stresses an awful lot. At one point in the interview, Barrymore even admitted to being the mommy who runs around like a chicken with its head cut off.

But she added that her husband is good at keeping things calm.

The September InStyle with Drew Barrymore’s parenting advice and more will hit the newstands on August 16.
