Bobby Dale Earnhardt Arrested For DUI


Bobby Dale Earnhardt was arrested for a DUI in West Virginia this week.

The 25-year-old son of Kerry Earnhardt, nephew of Dale Earhnhardt Jr., and grandson of Dale Earnhardt, apologized to his friends this morning for making a “terrible mistake.”

Bobby Dale Earnhardt writes on his Facebook page: “I wanted to let you all know I made a terrible mistake last night drinking and driving and I am thankful nothing bad happened from my stupidity and I know It could have. I’m sorry for letting all my fans friends and family down.”

ESPN reports that Earnhardt was pulled over on Monday night by a police officer in Charleston. The race car driver was pulled over for making a wide left turn and squealing his tires. When Earnhardt pulled over the officer noticed that his speech was slurred and smelled alcohol inside the vehicle.

Earnhardt’s blood alcohol level was.193, more than twice the legal limit, and he was charged with drinking and driving. It is his first DUI.

Sports Illustrated notes that if he is convicted he could spend up to six months in jail or pay a maximum $500 fine.

Bobby Dale Earnhardt is hoping to follow in the footsteps of his uncle and grandfather. He recently moved to CHarleston and will soon start racing in the ARCA Truck Series. Earnhardt hopes to use this experience as a stepping stone to NASCAR.

Earnhardt writes on his Facebook page: “I will continue to move forward with my racing career and I hope I continue to have your support thanks.”
