‘Downton Abbey’ Season 4: First Look At Lady Mary’s Suitors


We take a look at Downton Abbey Season 4 new potential suitors for Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery), who was left a widow after her husband, Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens) was killed in a car accident at the end of Season 3.

Now Mary is left with the tough task of raising her child, the heir to Downton, while trying to move on with her life without her husband, who had become an integral part of the family.

Season 4 is all about how Mary and Tom Branson (Allen Leech) will continue raising their children as single parents in this changing world during the 1920s.

Branson, of course lost his wife Lady Sybil (Jessica Brown Findlay) during childbirth. Both actors decided not to sign on to additional seasons of the the hit show.

We will see how new suitors will try to woo Mary and take her out of her mourning and lack of interest.

The first Downton Abbey new hunk is a popular stage and screen star, Julian Ovenden, who will play Charles Blake, one of the men that appears in Lady Mary’s path.

In a recent interview with Broadway World, Ovenden says that he is very excited to be joining the cast of the period drama and that he will not be using his musical talents.

He also says he has signed on for this season and will have to see where it goes from there.

Joining Ovenden are Tom Cullen, who plays Lord Gillingham an old family friend and Downton’s first black character, jazz musician Jack Ross, played by Gary Carr.

So who will end up winning Lady Mary’s affections? We will have to wait until Downton Abbey premieres in the UK in September and in the US in January.

As with previous seasons and due to the difference in release times between the two countries, we’ll find out details about the plot sooner rather than later.
