Vin Diesel Eyeing Role In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ [Rumor]

Is Vin Diesel eyeing a role in director James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy?

The prolific actor got internet tongues wagging this weekend after he posted a picture of Groot on his Facebook page. The image first appeared on Sunday, though it didn’t last very long. Diesel eventually removed the cover photo and the picture from his timeline.

Did the Fast and Furious 6 star spill the proverbial beans before Marvel Studios and Disney were ready? Although studio head Kevin Feige was in attendance at D23 over the weekend, nothing about Vin Diesel or his involvement with Guardians of the Galaxy was mentioned.

It would appear that things have gone quiet for the time being. If Diesel is seriously considering a role as the tree-like character in the upcoming adaptation, then he’s keeping details close to his chest for the moment. This writer wouldn’t have a problem with the guy proclaiming “I am Groot!” over and over again on the big screen.

Vin Diesel teased fans earlier this summer after posting about a meeting he had with Marvel. Although the Riddick star claimed news about the role would emerge towards the end of July, nothing official has been released.

Some outlets assumed that Diesel would sign on for a part in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers. Others believed that he might be interested in getting the Black Panther off the ground. Now it appears that Diesel is setting his sights on James Gunn’s upcoming superhero epic.

Guardians of the Galaxy is currently in production overseas. The adaptation stars Chris Pratt, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Zoe Saldana, Benicio Del Toro, Glenn Close, Lee Pace, Dave Bautista, and Ophelia Lovibond. Hopefully Diesel’s name will be added to that list before long.

What do you think about Vin Diesel possibly voicing Groot in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy? Do you think he’s the right guy to bring the character to life?
