Miley Cyrus Continues To Distance Herself From Hannah Montana

Miley Cyrus feels as if Disney and the creators of Hannah Montana forced her to not grow up. Now the singer-actress is working hard to distance herself from her Hannah Montana days.

In June, Miley released her new single We Can’t Stop, which talks about partying the night away at clubs while watching strippers dance and doing drugs. The track while a huge departure from Hannah Montana is none-the-less the direction the singer has been taking for several years.

Cyrus recently sat down for an interview with Daily Star Sunday in which she explains her departure from her Disney upbringing.

“Most people on Disney act as if they are really like their characters but I never felt the need to do that. I never pretended I was as good as what Disney writes.”

In truth, Miley Cyrus did live out her Hannah Montana character for the first few years of the show. However, she was also young and naive, just like her Hannah character. After a few years, Cyrus’ true teenager ways began to surface.

Cyrus says of growing up as a Disney superstar:

“They try to make someone not grow up but you can’t do that to real, normal people. If I’m doing something I’m going to do it right but then once I’m away from it I’ll do it my way.”

We will soon learn exactly how far Miley Cyrus has gone to distance herself from the Hannah Montana days. Miley’s new album BANGERZ drops later this year, and it’s likely to include more adult themes that distance Miley from Montana.

Do you think Miley Cyrus is going overboard just for the sake of distancing herself from her famous and beloved Disney character?
