Is Orlando Bloom in the running to tackle the role of Batman in Man of Steel 2? According to yet another industry insider, the Lord of the Ring actor is currently the top choice.
Not too long ago, online rumors suggested that Oldboy and No Country for Old Men star Josh Brolin was a shoe-in for the role of Bruce Wayne in Zack Snyder’s sequel. However, reports now suggest that Bloom is the guy Warner Bros. wants for the part.
An anonymous source from deep within the studio recently told the folks at The Daily Express that Orlando Bloom could end up playing Batman in Man of Steel 2.
“Orlando looks odds-on to get the part even before our first casting call. He would be perfect to play off Henry [Cavill] and I think US audiences would be happy with two Brits as the joint male leads,” the nameless individual explained.
Again, it’s worth noting that no one from Warner Bros. or Orlando Bloom’s camp has responded to these rumors as of this writing. If the studio addressed every single rumor that’s currently making the rounds, then they wouldn’t have any time to make movies.
Ryan Gosling, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Armie Hammer are also rumored to be up for the role of the Caped Crusader in the next installment of the Superman franchise. However, Hammer recently revealed that he currently has no interest in the project since he doesn’t like superhero movies.
The Orlando Bloom rumor isn’t the only piece of Batman gossip that’s presently making the rounds. According to a new eBook that just hit the market, Warner Bros. reportedly wants Christian Bale to reprise his role as the Dark Knight in Man of Steel 2.
In order to get the actor back into the fold, the studio is said to have offered the guy a hefty $50 million paycheck. Once again, no one has confirmed or denied this rumor as of this writing. Until Warner Bros. makes an official statement on the matter, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt.
