Wendy Davis Is An ‘Abortion Barbie,’ Says Erick Erickson

Wendy Davis is a woman, a Texas Senator, and, according to conservative commentator Erick Erickson, an “abortion barbie.”

Erickson made the comment on Tuesday afternoon on Twitter. Erickson was criticizing Davis for getting the facts wrong during a discussion about Kermitt Gosnell.

Gosnell ran an illegal abortion clinic in Philadelphia and is frequently the subject of debate during discussions about abortion. Think Progress reports that Davis was asked about Gosnell today and she incorrectly stated that Gosnell had already been licensed as an ambulatory surgical center.

Erickson criticized Davis for not knowing the facts about Gosnell’s illegal clinic but many people believe that he went too far by calling the state senator an “Abortion Barbie.”

Erickson writes: “It is a bit embarrassing that Abortion Barbie doesn’t even have her facts straight on Kermit Gosnell considering abortion is her issue.”

Wendy Davis became a bit of a celebrity earlier this year after she successfully filibustered an abortion bill in Texas. The bill ultimately went through a few days later but not before Davis became one of the most prominent voices in the abortion debate.

Davis hasn’t commented on the “Abortion Barbie” comment but she’s probably heard it before. Erickson says that he’s happy to take credit for the remark but he wasn’t the one who made it up. Apparently Davis earned the nickname “Abortion Barbie” shortly after she was spotted wearing colorful shoes during the filibuster.

What do you think about Erick Erickson’s comment? Is the term “Abortion Barbie” offensive?
