Emilia Clarke A Favorite To Join ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Cast

Emilia Clarke seems to be a fan favorite to play Anastasia Steele in a film adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey, as rumors for the casting of the popular book heat up.

Clarke already has a hit with her role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game Of Thrones, but online polls seem to put her at the top of the cast wish list for Fifty Shades Of Grey as well.

The best-selling erotic novel is set for a film adaptation in 2014. The movie will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. who has a light resume made up mostly of short films. Author E.L. James will also play an important role, as she retained creative control over the movie and will serve as a producer.

Other fan favorites for the Fifty Shades Of Grey cast include Henry Cavill and Ryan Gosling for the role of Christian Grey. Fans also seem to like Blake Lively as either Anastasia Steele or Kate Kavanagh, Anastasia’s best friend and college roommate.

While the rumors build about her joining the Fifty Shades Of Grey cast, Emilia Clarke took a break from filming Game Of Thrones to accept an honor on behalf of the show. She joined Kit Harington to appear at the Television Critics Association Awards, where the HBO hit show earned Best Drama honors.

At the same time, Universal Pictures just announced they are seeking male and female actors to play the roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades Of Grey movie.

Speculation seems to be building as the movie begins to take shape. It will attempt to piggyback off the popularity of the three-part book series, which has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide and will now reportedly get a fourth installation.

With the casting call going out this week, it seems it will be at least a little while longer before we find out if Emilia Clarke will appear in Fifty Shades Of Grey as Anastasia Steele.
