Kerry Washington Debuts Wedding Ring At TCA Party
Kerry Washington debuted her wedding ring on Sunday at the Television Choice Awards’ ABC/Disney summer press tour party. While the actress has yet to comment on her nuptials, it was easy to see married life suits her.
Washington wed San Francisco 49ers cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha in June at a secret ceremony in Idaho. And Sunday marked one of her first public appearances since she tied the knot.
Unlike some of her fellow Hollywood actors, Kerry Washington has kept her personal life private, reports E! Online. So, it’s no surprise that she didn’t tell many people, including current and former co-stars, about her wedding.
While Washington keeps several aspects of her personal life private, she couldn’t avoid showing off her beautiful wedding ring, which cameras immediately focused on.
The Daily Mail and other sites attempted to figure out what kind of ring was on Washington’s hand and what diamonds new hubby Asomugha gave her. Common consensus led sites to conclude the band is set with channel diamonds and made of yellow gold.
But without confirmation from the Scandal star, we’ll likely never know. Despite never being told, Kerry Washington’s Scandal co-star Tony Goldwyn admitted on Sunday that he “sensed [a wedding] was on the way.” He added, “Having been married for a very long time, I’m knowledgeable enough to know that I can offer her no advice.”
Beyond her recent nuptials, Washington also has cause to celebrate in her career. The actress was nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series for Scandal. She will go up against Connie Britton, Claire Danes, Michelle Dockery, Vera Farmiga, Elisabeth Moss, and Robin Wright.
Django Unchained co-star Jamie Foxx, who didn’t get an invite to Washington’s wedding, commented that it was good he wasn’t invited, because he wouldn’t have been able to keep it a secret. He added, “I think she did the right thing. She kept it quiet.”
