‘Sherlock’ Teaser Shows The Return Of Benedict Cumberbatch (Video)

BBC One has shared a 26 second teaser trailer of Sherlock Series 3 which shows the return of Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek Into Darkness) as the famous detective and a visibly aged Martin Freeman (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) as his partner Watson.

The clip is just that, a teaser. We see Cumberbatch’s silhouette as he makes his return, literally and figuratively.

Mrs Hudson is washing up. Mycroft Holmes is, as usual, working in a leather chair. Lestrade is investigating in a darkened alleyway. Watson is drinking in a bar, sporting a bushy mustache and grey hair.

At the end of the trailer, Sherlock stands before Watson in what is becoming one of the most anticipated reunions in television.

But the scene ends before John has time to look up to see Benedict Cumberbatch standing there waiting to be recognized.

The end of Series 2 saw Sherlock faking his own death, after what appeared to be a deadly fall, and not telling a soul, not even Watson. Everyone believes he is dead.

There has been no word as to what the explanation of his survival will be, but fans of the show are not short on ideas.

As reported by The Inquisitr, at San Diego Comic-Con, writer Mark Gatiss said that there are only a few ways of surviving a fall from a skyscraper, but didn’t give any hints as to what they would be.

The panel at SDCC discussed that the focus of Series 3 will be re-building the relationship between Sherlock and Watson, something fans are eagerly anticipating as being very emotional.

Producers also promised not to kill off neither of the two main characters in keeping with the novels plot line.

What do you think of the return of Benedict Cumberbatch to Sherlock? Will you be watching?
