‘Star Wars: Battlefront’ Is ‘Likely’ To Release In 2015

EA didn’t exactly try to keep it a secret that a new Star Wars: Battlefront game was in development, but the game’s reveal during the publisher’s E3 2013 press conference – as short as it may have been – still garnered a strong positive reaction from fans of the franchise.

We still don’t know a whole lot about the game seeing as how EA and developer DICE have mostly kept quiet since the reveal, but we may know when it’s coming out. In a recent briefing call with shareholders, as reported on by IGN, CFO Blake Jorgensen said that the company is aiming to release Star Wars: Battlefront sometime around the summer of 2015.

For Star Wars: Battlefront fans, it’s going to be a long wait.

The game’s debut trailer during E3 didn’t give away any details apart from the fact that – and this should come as a surprise to no one – that one of the battlegrounds will be on Hoth. And at least one AT-AT will likely be involved, if the teaser’s ending is any indication.

We may not know a whole lot about the game, but we do know of the developers behind it. In an interview with CVG from E3, Patrick Söderlund, executive VP of the EA Games label, revealed that “veteran” Battlefield developers have taken on the project, and that it’s being developed in DICE’s home territory, Stockholm.

“DICE is a very particular place and they are very proud of what they do and you don’t really tell them what to do,” Söderlund went on to explain at the time.

“I didn’t anticipate them wanting to work on a license – they’ve always been new IP or their own IP. But they were just like, ‘we would kill to make this game’ and the whole studio started talking about it like, ‘please give us this game’.”
