Kidd Kraddick’s Death Caused By Enlarged Heart

Popular radio and TV host Kidd Kraddick’s death was caused by an enlarged heart — a diagnosis that is arguably poetic. During his time on Earth, Kraddick founded the Kidd’s Kids charity and was known for his devotion to making others smile.

But in reality, an enlarged heart can be dangerous. And as Kraddick’s autopsy results show, the condition can be quite fatal.

The popular DJ fell ill on Saturday during his Kidd’s Kids charity golf tournament near New Orleans, reports The Huffington Post. He collapsed while being driven to the hospital and could not be resuscitated.

Dr. Granville Morse, a deputy coroner in the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office, explained that Kidd Kraddick’s likely cause of death was an enlarged heart and cardiac disease.

Along with the abnormality, Morse explained that three coronary arteries ranged from 40 to 80 percent blocked. Combined, those conditions can cause an irregular heartbeat and collapse. However, Morse stated, “We can’t prove that [happened] because he didn’t have a cardiac monitor on when he collapsed.”

So, while Kraddick’s death has been ruled natural, there is no way to know exactly what happened. The official results will not be posted until the coroner’s office receives toxicology tests back, notes MSN TV.

More than 300 people attended Kraddick’s charity golf tournament, which raised more than $18,000 toward sending chronically ill and physically challenged children to Disney World. Even in his final day, the popular radio host gave to others.

Kidd was remembered by fellow celebrities following his death, with many tweeting out their condolences to Kraddick’s family and other friends. The DJ’s morning show was based in Dallas, but was transmitted globally on American Forces Radio Network. More than 75 radio stations also picked it up in the United States.

Spin notes that the Kid Kraddick in the Morning crew and syndicator YEA Networks released a statement on the DJ’s death, saying, “Kidd devoted his life to making people smile every morning, and for 21 years his foundation has been dedicated to bringing joy to thousands of chronically and terminally ill children.”

Funeral arrangements for Kidd Kraddick have yet to be announced.
