‘BioShock Infinite’ ‘Burial At Sea’ Expansion Takes You Back To Rapture

The BioShock Infinite Burial At Sea expansion will take you back to Rapture.

Bioshock Infinite has been the recipient of some of the most varied responses in gaming’s recent history. When the game was launched, it enjoyed great success as gamers snagged a copy like it was gold. Then sales slowed down a few months later, possibly due to gamers noticing the game was actually rather limited in gameplay environment as it pushed a somewhat confusing storyline at them.

Toward the end of the game, there was a scene of Elizabeth wandering Rapture, making gamers wonder what it meant, as previously reported by The Inquisitr.

Now we may be getting an answer to that question as the BioShock Infinite Burial At Sea expansion brings us back to Rapture, the underwater world of the first two games. Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth will now be able to play out an alternate history in the environments that BioShock was always previously known for.

This follows the release today of Clash In The Clouds, a five dollar add-on using the environments from BioShock Infinite for 60 multiplayer challenges.

Irrational Games creative director Ken Levine says of the BioShock Infinite Burial At Sea expansion and Clash In The Clouds add-on:

“We are really excited to offer our fans the content that they have been asking for. With Clash in the Clouds, people get a pure action experience that takes BioShock Infinite combat to its highest challenge and intensity level. With the Burial at Sea episodes, we are building a Rapture-based narrative experience that is almost entirely built from scratch.”

For those of you who are not familiar with BioShock Infinite’s story, it revolves around the theory of quantum mechanics. Said theory states that for every conscious decision we make, we create an alternate universe where we made the opposite decision. BioShock Infinite plays with the theory by giving you an NPC (non-playable character) who is actually capable of crossing between the universes, thanks to the very reason she lost the tip of her pinky finger.

Apparently, the BioShock Infinite Burial At Sea expansion further plays with the theory by allowing the characters to go back to Rapture, answering once and for all the question raised by the mysterious scene toward the end of the game.

What do you think of the Bioshock Infinite Burial At Sea expansion bringing you back to Rapture?
