‘American Horror Story’ Adds Denis O’Hare

American Horror Story: Coven has signed Denis O’Hare for the third season of the FX shocker, which will begin airing in October.

Fans of the show will recognize O’Hare as Larry Harvey (aka Burning Man from the first season of the hit series). O’Hare had a knack for being sympathetic one moment and devilishly evil the next.

(Such was the nature of that first season roller-coaster ride.)

News of the casting addition first broke on Twitter on Saturday when series creator Ryan Murphy tweeted, “Very pleased to announce that the Emmy nominated [for American Horror Story] Denis O’Hare is joining AHS: Coven.”

Very little is known about the series at this time, or what the role of O’Hare will be. What is known is that the series already has an amazing cast, consisting of Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe, and Patti LuPone, to name a few.

We’re assuming that it will have something to do with witches as well — or maybe voodoo due to the New Orleans setting. Heck, why not both?

(That’s a guess.)

“It’s a really cool story that we’ve been talking about for a couple of years, and this seemed like the year to do it,” Murphy said in comments previously reported by Huffington Post.

Murphy’s cast appeared equally enthusiastic at a panel in March. Oscar-winner Kathy Bates told co-star (and first/second season alumnus) Jessica Lange to tell Murphy “I’ll do anything to be in this show.”

Bates claimed she knew little about her character at the time of the panel, adding that it would likely stay that way “’til I’ve gotten in and walked around in her shoes, but I’m awfully excited.”

If you missed any of American Horror Story last season, here’s a refresher:

As for Murphy, he’s currently working on another horror project — a remake that fans of the genre should find familiar, in The Town That Dreaded Sundown.

His announcement for that film came in January of this year. It is expected to release sometime in 2014. (Coincidentally, O’Hare will have a role in the film.)

How do you feel about seeing Denis O’Hare return to American Horror Story, and are you looking forward to the Coven storyline?
