Justin Bieber’s ability to incite mobs of hyperventilating little girls, big girls — and more often than one would think, their parents — to mass hysteria is nothing new.

For years we’ve all assumed that effect was down to the Canadian’s charisma, talent, looks, and the promotional machine behind him that makes crowds of reasoning, functioning people lose their minds in public spaces at the sight of him.

But it seems Bieber’s star is now so bright, his draw has gone beyond mere technicalities and just the idea of him is enough to spark fan mayhem.

If a crowd already thinks you’re the Biebs — like for instance Bostonians primed for a sighting of the star when he played the city on July 20 — apparently all you have to do is throw on some bling and swaggy threads and you’re good to go.

That’s exactly what 16-year-old Jeremy Frost, his brother Zack, 19, and Jimmy Lawrenson, 16, did when they pitched up outside Boston’s TD Garden Arena and fooled the waiting Beliebers.

The trio are known as “Three Amigos Comedy” with a YouTube account of the same name.

Jeremy, who has been told he looks like Bieber, heightened the illusion with dark sunglasses, fake gold chains, a hoodie, baggy pants, a snapback hat, and friends in tow pretending to be paparazzi or bodyguards.

Cue girls screaming, and a domino ripple of crazy among fans who seemingly can’t tell one swaggy teen from another. One and all rushed the impostor to pose for snaps and generally lose their grip on reality.

In an email Zack told Mashable:

“The initial response was great when we walked out for the first time. Luckily, we had a couple of people with us to hold some of the girls back. Then, when we went inside, people continued to take pictures and put them on Twitter.”

He added:

“Originally, we were just going to do it in a mall or something, but then we found out he [Bieber] was going to have a concert in Boston in July. So we put it off for a couple months. His fans are the most dedicated in the world and we knew that if they even saw a glimpse of him, they’d freak out. We couldn’t pass that up.”

Three Amigos Comedy posts new videos to its YouTube channel Wednesdays at 7 pm ET.

For scream comparisons, here’s 16-year-old Bieber — the real one— setting off an Auckland, New Zealand crowd meltdown in 2010.
