‘Romeo And Juliet’ Trailer Drops [Video]

It looks like we have yet another adaptation of Romeo And Juliet to look forward to. This version at least stars the very talented Hailee Steinfeld.

Written by William Shakespeare about tortured teens torn apart by class, the newest adaptation is by director Carlo Carlei. Carlei has directed a bunch of TV movies, but one that stands out is the TV movie of Padre Pio.

At fifteen Hailee Steinfeld was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in True Grit, and will now play Juliet. For her Romeo, we shouldn’t expect the same luscious locks that we got the last time around in the 1996 version with Leonardo DiCaprio. Actor Douglas Booth of LOL, who will also be seen in Noah and Jupiter Ascending, will play the role of Romeo.

As for the script, it should be pretty stellar seeing as Downtown Abbey scribe Julian Fellowes has penned it. The supporting cast is just as impressive, featuring Paul Giamatti, Lesley Manville, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Stellan Skargard, and Gossip Girl’s Ed Westwick.

It doesn’t look like much will be changed for the classic story. Two star-crossed lovers? Check. Families are enemies? Check. Forbidden love and teen rebellion? Check.

Earlier in the month both Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth were on hand to discuss their time filming Romeo and Juliet together. Speaking of a candid moment, Steinfeld mentioned a goof up by Booth: “We were running out of the house and he (Douglass) almost fell. I was laughing before he hit the ground.”

Booth filled in the blanks by elaborating on the whole flub, having said, “That was a great moment. We were running out of the house. I did fall. I had to come running down these steps, and it was a classic banana slip.”
