Nancy Grace Death Threats: Man Arrested After Threatening News Anchor On Twitter

A man was arrested for allegedly making death threats against Nancy Grace on Twitter.

According to The Leader, David Lee Simpson was furious with Nancy Grace and Jane Velez-Mitchell over their coverage during the Jodi Arias trial. Simpson allegedly made death threats against both newscasters on Twitter.

The Daily Dot reports that Simpson’s threats were detailed and graphic. In one message, he reportedly wrote that he wanted to tie Grace and Mitchell to a tree naked before cutting their throats. Another threat involved gutting the news anchors like deer.

Authorities don’t look into every death threat made on Twitter but they found Simpson’s threats to be plausible. The man had reportedly quit his job at an auto mechanic and told his boss that he was leaving town for a few days.

The New York man was arrested during a traffic stop. He had a trunk full of ammunition, handcuffs and guns at the time of his arrest.

When asked if Simpson was on his way to harm Grace, Investigator Heather Barry said: “In this day and age, it’s definitely a possibility. It’s better to err on the side of caution.”

Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona said: “This suspect was on his way south with enough weapons in his car to do serious harm to someone… Fortunately, we acted quickly enough, and in doing so, were able to stop him before anything could transpire.”

Simpson has been indicted with three counts of computer tampering and two counts of stalking.
