Andre 3000 As Jimi Hendrix: First Official Photo From Biopic

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard anything about the Jimi Hendrix biopic. The biopic called All Is By My Side stars Outkast front man Andre 3000. The last time we heard about the film it was going through some troubles with Hendrix’s surviving estate.

Soon after director John Ridley agreed with the estate that they wouldn’t use Hendrix’s music in the film despite the iconic musician being the subject of the film. Now we have the first official look at Andre 3000 as Jimi Hendrix.

The photo features Andre who has an uncanny resemblance to Jimi Hendrix, which was widely reported when he first emerged from a trailer while on set. The professional still photo leans on that fact with the right lighting and the signature style of Hendrix.

All Is By My Side is said to debut at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, which has recently released their roster of films they will be showing at the festival.

All Is By My Side will focus on Jimi Hendrix and his time in England during 1966 and 1969, but because of the estate’s wishes will not be focusing on the music that put his name on the map before his passing in 1970.

The details surrounding Jimi Hendrix’s death have widely been discussed and disputed, as he spent much of his time in England before his passing. According to a coroner report, Hendrix died of asphyxia while intoxicated. Later it was stated that Hendrix had ingested nine sleeping pills.

In addition to All Is By My Side, some of the highlights that TIFF will be showing include:
August: Osage County
Kill Your Darlings
Life of Crime
12 Years a Slave
Can a Song Save Your Life?
Dallas Buyers Club
Don Jon
Gravity
Labor Day
Prisoners
