One Direction’s ‘Best Song Ever’ Sets Video Record

One Direction’s new song really is the Best Song Ever.

The band’s latest video set a new record on VEVO be racking up more than 10.9 million views in just 24 hours.

The previous record was set by Miley Cyrus who earned 10.7 million views for her video We Can’t Stop.

One Direction wrote on Twitter: “Over 10.9 MILLION views and counting for the #BestSongEverOfficialVideo. Final amount coming later today! #1DFamilyAreTheBest #1DFACT.

VEVO added: “First count is 10.9 MILLION which means…@OneDirection has BROKEN THE 24HR RECORD! HUGE! Final count coming later today! #BSEVEVORECORD RT!”

At the time of this writing, the video has 10,932,425 views.

The Best Song Ever video features the boys from One Direction imitating people from around the music industry. Billboard notes that Niall Horan played a studio exec, Zayn Malik played a sexy assistant, Harry Styles was a marketing guy, Liam Payne was a choreographer and Louis Tomlinson was a producer.

One Direction may have scored a hit with Best Song Ever but that’s not the video that really matters. The song was basically a promotion for the new One Direction: This Is Us movie. If 10.9 million people tuned in to watch Best Song Ever in 24 hours it’s probably safe to say that they’ll find an audience on Aug. 30 when the new movie comes out.
