‘Soul Calibur 2 HD Online’ Coming To Xbox 360, PS3 [Video]

Soul Calibur 2 HD Online is coming to Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 later this year. For fans of the fighting genre, this is definitely a big deal.

Although the franchise found new life on this generation’s consoles, Soul Caliber 2 is still considered by many to be the best of the bunch. Fighting game fanatics who haven’t had an opportunity to play the game can correct this problem in just a matter of months.

According to Cinema Blend, all of the features found in the original game are present and accounted for in Soul Calibur 2 HD Online. This includes Arcade, Survival, VS Battle, Time Attack, Survival, Team Battle, Practice, and Weapon Master.

As the title suggests, the updated version of the classic brawler will feature updated graphics and the ability to square off against opponents online. Project Soul is reportedly developing new netcode in order to make multiplayer matches as smooth and flawless as possible.

Namco Bandai Games America’s Chris Gilbert said in a statement:

For more than a decade the ‘Soul Calibur’ franchise has been one of the preeminent head-to-head fighting franchises for consoles. ‘Soul Calibur II HD Online’ lets fans relive an important chapter of the series’ history with beautifully enhanced graphics and new online gameplay.

Polygon points out that the original console version of Soul Calibur 2 featured three unique guest characters: Tekken’s Heihachi, The Legend of Zelda’s Link and Todd McFarlane’s Spawn. However, the Comic-Con 2013 trailer only features Heihachi.

Soul Calibur 2 HD Online isn’t the only fighting game fans have to look forward to this year. Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate and the next-gen version of Killer Instinct are presently looming on the horizon. Capcom is also released Ultra Street Fighter IV next year.
