Week three of the NFL season gives many records to remember

In the young NFL season week three was a little more in line with what people though the new NFL season was going to be. Sure there were a few surprises, but it looks like after three weeks things are starting to shake out a bit. A word of warning for all of those delusional Detroit Lions fans who talk each and every year about 10 wins, those Lions sit at 0-3. Not good for the Motor City Kitties. Anyways here is a look a t a few benchmarks that were reached this week.

Baltimore Ravens Receiver Anquan Boldin caught eight passes for 142 yards and three touchdowns. With those eight catches Boldin now has 606 career receptions in just 98 games. That is a record for fewest NFL games for a player to notch 600 receptions. He has been hot ever since his debut against the Lions in 2003.

New England Patriots receiver Randy Moss caught two touchdown passes on Sunday, giving him 151 for his career. He now joins Hall of Famer Jerry Rice as the only two receivers in NFL history with more than 150 career TD receptions. Moss now has 14,604 career receiving yards which moves him past Marvin Harrison for the fifth most receiving yards in league history.

With a win over the Houston Texans the Dallas Cowboys notched their 400th win since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970. Only the Pittsburgh Steelers (406) have reached that team win plateau.

When the Atlanta Falcons/New Orleans Saints game went into overtime that marked the third straight week that the NFL decided a game in over time. The last time the first three weeks featured at least one overtime game was 2002.

Finally, San Diego Charger TE Antonio Gates caught one TD reception giving him 63 TD receptions for his career. He moves past TE Shannon Sharpe for second most TD receptions by a TE.
