What a bad week for College Football

When it comes to football schedules, and I am talking any level of football from teh semi pro ranks to big time college to the NFL, Squash games are just not going to hold my interest. I cannot believe in this day and age when a BCS bid is based at least in part on strength of schedule big time college football programs schedule squash games. When it comes to scheduling football I learned my lesson from Vince McMahon. If I don’t credibly think a team or person ahs a chance in a game or a fight there is really no compelling reason to watch.

Even though I write a NFL Draft Column, and even though I should be paying attention to what is going on in the College game, I am not going to waste my team with weeks with as weak a schedule last this week had. I found one compelling game Alabama and Arkansas and could have done without the rest of them.

Miami beats Pitt 31-3, Michigan beats Bowling Green 65-21, Michigan State beats Northern Colorado 45-7, Wisconsin beats Austin Peay 70-3 ( and I have never even heard of Auston Peay), Iowa blanks Ball State 45-0, Ohio State crushes Eastern Michigan 73-20, and Utah scores 56 easily beating San Jose State by 53. None of these games were ever in doubt, and I could have called all of these two weeks ago.

There is virtually no reason we should watch these games. Beyond the mere enjoyment of football, but blow out games are not fun to watch. Trust me I worked for a semi pro team that beat up on a team 88-0 and by the end of the first quarter I was looking for something else to do. Sure the schools all made a little money, but why is anyone watching these ridiculous match ups?
