The CW’s Arrow recently added actress Caity Lotz as the Black Canary.
Many fans have wondered when Laurel Lance (actress Katie Cassidy) would become the Black Canary. If you were hoping the small-screen adaptation of the Green Arrow would stick close to the source material, then you might be a little frustrated with this latest development.
Coming Soon is reporting that producers behind the CW’s Arrow have added Caity Lotz to the show. The star of the horror flick The Pact will portray the Black Canary on the program.
When the character debuts on Arrow, she will only have a recurring role. According to The Wrap, producers intend to make Lotz a regular on the show down the road. She is also expected to be a love interest for Arrow himself.
Lotz previously starred on the MTV series horror series Death Valley. She also had a recurring told on the hit AMC series Mad Men. The actress’ big-screen credits include writer-director Caradog W. James’s The Machine and the upcoming dance flick Battle of the Year.
Caity Lotz isn’t the only recent addition to the CW’s Arrow. The Inquisitr previously reported that actress Summer Glau was selected to tackle the role of Isabel Rochev, the Vice President of Acquisitions for Stellmoor International.
The second season of Arrow is currently in production. New episodes of the program will arrive on October 2. If you need to get caught up beforehand, then be sure to pick up the first season when it hits DVD and Blu-ray on September 17.
Here’s how the CW describes the series:
After a violent shipwreck, Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island. His mother Moira, sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. Oliver secretly creates the persona of Arrow — a vigilante — to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory.
