Taylor Swift Still Can’t Let It Go: Holding A Grudge Against Kanye West Since 2009

The popular 23 year old Taylor Swift can’t seem to let the 2009 Video Music Award (VMA) incident with Kayne West go. She has been holding the grudge for her interrupted acceptance speech for three years.

Taylor Swift can’t let it go. The singer has admitted to keeping a framed photo of rapper Kanye West crashing her 2009 VMAs acceptance speech. After hearing that her hit song, “I Knew You Were Trouble” was nominated this year, the pop star tweeted, ” Two VMA nominations!! If you vote and get us one, I promise to keep a firmer grip on the mic this time”.

Over the last three years, Swift was consistently nominated for awards, but 2009 was the last time that she won a VMA. It’s also the same year she was interrupted by West, who rushed the staged to let the world know a miscarriage of justice had played out since he believed that “Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.”

Swift wrote the song “Innocent” after the experience, claiming the process helped her put the incident behind her. “It’s okay, life is a tough crowd. 32 and still growin’ up now. Who you are is not what you did. You’re still an innocent. Time turns flames to embers, you’ll have new Septembers. Everyone of us has messed up too
Minds change like the weather, I hope you remember. Today is never too late to be brand new”

This year, Swift is nominated for both Best Female Video and Video of The Year. It will be a good thing that she won’t be going against Beyoncé in the 2013 categories. Maybe she will finally be able to let this 3 year old grudge against Kayne West go, is she is allowed to give her winning acceptance speech without being interrupted. She just might be able to put the framed photograph that she has in home away once and for all.
