Mary-Louise Parker To Quit Acting Due To Internet Trolls

Mary-Louise Parker has a few movies coming up, but don’t expect to see her in too many films after that. The star of Weeds recently said that she wants to quit acting.

Parker, who will soon be seen in Red 2 and R.I.P.D., said that the internet trolls are sucking all of the fun out of acting.

While promoting R.I.P.D., Parker told the Australian News Corp that she’s had enough of all the “bitchiness” on the internet.

Parker said: “I don’t know how many more movies I wanna do… I wouldn’t mind doing a TV show again, I’d like to do a couple more plays, but I’m almost done acting, I think… The world has gotten too mean for me, it’s just too b**chy. All the websites and all the blogging and all the people giving their opinion and their hatred … it’s all so mean-spirited, it’s all so critical.”

Parker hasn’t made a final decision about her acting future but she did admit that the critical comments are starting to get to her.

Parker added: “I don’t know if you can imagine a friend sending you something they thought was funny, that was something mean someone wrote about you and there’s like 50 comments from complete strangers across the world about you – and you can say ‘Oh I let it roll off my back’ and ‘I wouldn’t take it personally’, but you have no idea until it happens to you. It doesn’t feel nice.”

Mary-Louise Parker may quit acting in the near future but she isn’t showing any signs of slowing down at the moment. She has two films coming out this Summer and has three projects currently in the works.

Parker also recently returned to Broadway and may appear in a third Red movie.

So what would the actress do if she quit acting? Parker said that she would like to write more, spend more time with her kids, and bake.

Parker said: “I would write, still. I write for Esquire (magazine) and writing makes me happy. I would take care of my kids and my goats. That’s about it. Bake. Throw my internet in the lake …”
