Tina Turner Marries Longtime Partner Erwin Bach In Zurich

Tina Turner is married, and boy has it been a long time coming.

The 73-year-old music legend tied the knot with her decades-long boyfriend Erwin Bach, 57, in Zurich, Switzerland “a few days ago.”

There’s not much else on the story aside from the bits and pieces Reuters was able to dig up. To wit, Turner’s impending wedding has been a rumor for several months now with very little to go on but the garden-variety “a source claims… ”

Turner has been with Bach, a record executive, for the past 27 years and they have lived in Zurich for over 15. They wed in a small, civil ceremony and plan to have a Buddhist celebration at their home on the shore of Lake Zurich on Sunday, the report says.

This is Turner’s second marriage. She was first married to the notorious Ike Turner between 1962 and 1976 when she finally filed for divorce after years of alleged spousal abuse (detailed in her 1986 memoir I, Tina).

Ike died in 2008 of a cocaine overdose.

A notoriously private couple, there’s nothing to suggest why they finally decided to wed after 27 happy years together. As far back as 2000, the two said that they were content just living together and had no desire to make it official.

“We are married – we just haven’t walked down the aisle, and until there’s a need to, we probably won’t,” Turner said.

“We don’t need a marriage to be together,” Bach added. “Some people need that security thing, but I think if you’re internally happy with your partner, you don’t need symbols.”

Congrats to Erwin Bach and Tina Turner on their new marriage!
