Raven Asks For Help From Humans After Porcupine Run-In [Video]

A raven asked for help from humans recently after the wild animal had a run-in with a porcupine.

Gertie Clearly spotted the raven perched on a fence and quickly realized that the young bird had porcupine quills sticking out of its face.

It became apparent rather quickly that Clearly had to help the bird in order to save its life. Putting on a pair of gloves, she approved the raven with the utmost caution.

Gertie tells CTV News:

“I was face to face with this raven… It reminded me of a child with a splinter and when you pull a splinter out, they holler and screech and pull their hand away.”

Watching the video, you will notice the raven as it screeches each time Clearly’s hand approaches. However, the bird’s rescuer remains calm and slowly picks out each of the tree porcupine quills.

After all the quills are removed, Clearly holds up a flower which the raven bites into.

Once it fully calmed down, Gertie carried the bird to her house and fed him dog food and water. The morning after the incident, the raven was happily standing on Clearly’s doorstep.

After a bit of time passed, the healed bird flew off to be seen nevermore.

An experts from a local wildlife organization says the young bird likely wouldn’t have survived without some human intervention.

A raven asking for help from humans is apparently something that people really want to see. Since being posted on June 23, 2013, the video has racked up 691,981 views.
