Cory Monteith’s Ex-Girlfriend Was Kept In The Dark About Drug Addiction

Cory Monteith’s ex-girlfriend Mallory Matoush says he kept his drug addiction a secret and always seemed to be “just a happy guy.”

Following the Glee star’s death, US Magazine sat down to speak with Matoush about her relationship with Cory. According to Mallory, “Cory kept me in the dark about his drug use. He told me about his teenage days and his past problems but he never used anything in front of me, ever.”

Cory Monteith and Mallory Matoush met in June 2011 and started dating soon afterwards. The former couple dated for about nine months. According to Mallory, they ended their relationship amicably and remained friends.

Mallory says that Monteith was always “so silly and funny.”

Matoush says Cory was a real normal guy and that she didn’t even know who he was when they met. She says of their first meetup:

“I had to Google it because after the first night I stayed with him, I was on my way out of his hotel and there was a crowd of young girls waiting for him. They asked me if I had seen Cory Monteith inside the hotel and I was so confused.”

While he kept his drug use hidden from Mallory, the Glee star did manage to seek help. In early 2013, Cory Monteith checked into a rehab center. The 31-year-old actor passed away from his addiction to drugs on Saturday July 13. Cory’s body was discovered in his room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, Canada.

An official coroners report was issued on Tuesday, which confirmed a deadly mix of alcohol and drugs.

Following news of his death, Cory Monteith’s ex-girlfriend says she was in “complete shock.”
