Mother Left Kids In Car To Attend Lil Wayne Concert

West Palm Beach, FL – A Florida mother allegedly left her two kids in a car in order to attend a Lil Wayne concert held at the Cruzan Amphitheatre on Sunday.

Authorities say 25-year-old Brittany Nichole Harris left both her 3- and 5-year-old children alone inside a car. It was parked in a lot near the Lil Wayne concert venue.

Harris allegedly left her kids in the car so she could attend the event, according to the Huffington Post.

Employees noticed the children around 7 pm. Upon questioning, one of Harris’ kids stated their mother had gone to the Lil Wayne concert.

Tickets for the event range from $70 to $102 per person according to Ticketmaster.

Police were called and caught up with Harris as she left the Lil Wayne concert. Initially the young mother told deputies her cousin had brought the children. But later Harris confessed to bringing her children to the event and leaving them in the car in order to attend, reports the Palm Beach Post.

Authorities take children being left alone inside vehicles very seriously, especially during the summer months when it can be potentially life-threatening. Young children, the infirmed, and the elderly are particularly susceptible to negative heat related effects where an individual can become dehydrated and overheated. Heatstroke can result in death.

Harris was arrested and charged with two counts of child neglect. The state’s Department of Children and Families was called to take charge of the children.

Harris was later released under supervision and on $20,000 bond from the Palm Beach County Jail at 3 am Tuesday.

As for Lil Wayne, 30, he recently faced a little controversy over his upcoming video “God Bless Amerika,” during which the American flag is trampled. However, the final version of the music video for “God Bless Amerika” was released online Tuesday – without any flag stomping included, according to the New York Daily News.
