Following Cory Monteith’s Coroner’s Report, Lea Michele’s Rep Releases Second Statement

Since Cory Monteith’s death has been ruled as a lethal mix of drug toxicity involving heroin and alcohol, we now have complete confirmation that Monteith’s death was in fact a result of his tragic addiction.

On the heels of the results of the coroner’s report, Lea Michele’s rep has made a second official statement about Lea’s well-being. Michele was Cory’s co-star on the hit FOX show Glee for four years, and his girlfriend of almost two years.

In the second statement since Monteith’s passing, Lea Michele’s rep said to USA TODAY:

“Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends, and fans. Since Cory’s passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them.”

“They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory’s family.”

After the report was released, The BC Coroner’s Service noted: “At this point there is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith’s death was anything other than a most-tragic accident.”

During a press conference, Vancouver Police Department media relations officer Brian Montague shared during a briefing this afternoon:

“There were indications in the room that this was a drug overdose. We’re not providing exactly what we found at the scene. Anything that was found at the scene would be evidence.”

Glee star Cory Monteith was found dead at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in Vancouver on Saturday after the 31-year-old failed to make his check out. Since his death, police decided to expedite his autopsy and toxicology report due to public concern.

Throughout his time promoting Glee, Monteith has been open and honest about his addiction problems. In a 2011 interview with Parade magazine, Monteith discussed as a young teen he was, “doing anything and everything, as much as possible.”

Since Monteith’s death the talent of Glee have tweeted messages of support. The only cast member to give a public statement has been Naya Rivera, who said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter:

“The entire ‘Glee’ family and I are deeply saddened by this tragedy. Cory was and always will be a part of my own family and a good friend. He was a special part of this world and will forever be missed.”

Lea Michele’s rep initially told People magazine before the coroner’s report:

“We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea’s privacy during this devastating time.”

So far FOX has yet to give a statement following the results of Monteith’s coroner’s report.

Since Cory’s passing there has been a number of tribute’s in the actor’s honor. Glee’s Facebook and Twitter pages have both gone black with a picture of Cory for remembrance, and iTunes has put up a special page honoring Monteith.
