A New Jersey man dressed as a butterfly arranged to have sex with an underage girl, but he was busted by undercover police.
David Reiser pretended to be a 15-year-old boy and contacted an undercover detective in an online chat room. He eventually revealed that he was actually 19 and began having phone conversations with the undercover detective.
The detective who posed as a 13-year-old girl told Reiser that ‘her’ parents wouldn’t be home one night and arranged to be picked up at ‘her’ home.
“From there Reiser wished to return to the girl’s home and have sex with her and play out some type of fantasy scenario, involving Reiser dressing in a butterfly costume,” Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik said.
After Reiser arrived in his red Dodge Neon at the predetermined location, police arrested him.
Berdnik told Reiser that the sheriff’s department has a zero tolerance policy for anyone attempting to exploit a child.
“The message is clear, you attempt to go into Passaic County for the purpose of having a sexual relationship with a minor, you will be arrested,” he said.
Reiser refused to speak with detectives and was charged wtih attempted sexual contact of a minor, attempted sexual assault of a minor, attempted endangering the welfare of a minor and attempted luring and enticing a minor.
The 19-year-old is currently sitting in jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
Reiser isn’t the only person who has been arrested in a police sting. In June, a 62-year-old man was arrested by the Guthrie Police Department for attempting to meet up with a boy he thought was 15 years old.
Terry Lee Girton told the police, “no I know what I am doing is illegal” and that he was at home “board and horny.”
Girton faced five charges including lewd, indecent proposal to a child under 16, violation of computer crimes act, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
What do you think should happen to the man dressed as a butterfly who tried to have sex with an underage girl?
