Busy Phillips Defends Daughter’s Name On Twitter

Cougar Town star Busy Phillips is defending her choice to name baby daughter Cricket.

Phillips and her husband Marc Silverstein named their little girl last week but just recently revealed the unique name. The couple already have a four-year-old girl named Birdie Leigh.

Cricket? Birdie? We see an aviary theme here, and, while the couple thinks its cute, some fans of the show have attacked the name.

Reaching out to her followers on Wednesday, Busy Phillips tweeted:

“II’s weird people think my kids will be in therapy because of their names. Guys, my kids will be therapy for LOTS of reasons, I’m sure.”

Not everyone thought Cricket was a weird name, and, to her supporters, Busy tweeted:

“Thank you all for the warm wishes for our new little ladybug! It’s been so sweet to read them all!!”

Phillips may have hinted at her child’s name earlier in the week when she tweeted:

“Thank you all for the warm wishes for our new little ladybug! It’s been so sweet to read them all!!”

Busy Phillips gave birth last week to her daughter, who weighed in at a healthy 8 pounds.

This is hardly the first time we have discussed celebrities and their weird names. I can’t decide if Cricket is better than Apple, but it’s most definitely better than Pilot Inspektor and North West.

I used to believe that celebrities named their children for the publicity, but increasingly I believe its just creative people being creatively eccentric.

Do you think there is anything wrong with the name Cricket? Should fans and non-fans of celebrities just ignore the unconventional names and go on with their day?
