Queen Elizabeth II’s granddaughter Zara Phillips is pregnant and will give birth in early 2014. The pregnancy was announced on Monday by officials at Buckingham Palace.
In the release, the Royal Family writes:
“Mr. and Mrs. Mike Tindall are very pleased to announce that Zara Tindall is expecting baby in the new year.”
Zara Phillips is the daughter of Princess Anne and wife of rugby star Mike Tindall. The couple wed in Scotland just weeks after Prince William married Kate Middleton in 2011. Phillips is also an Olympic equestrian.
According to the Buckingham Palace release, “both families are delighted with the news.”
The pregnancy is the first for Phillips and her husband, and the third grandchild for Princess Anne.
In the meantime, Zara Phillips’ pregnancy means her son or daughter will have a playmate. Prince William and wife Kate Middleton are also expecting their first child. Middleton is due any day now, which means the children will be less than a year apart in age.
The press release for Zara Phillips’ pregnancy continues:
“She’s still busy, making sure she’s done as much as possible for the new house before the baby is born,” the insider revealed. “Once the baby is here, she won’t have time for anything else!””The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips, Mr. Phillip and Mrs. Linda Tindall, and members of both families are delighted with the news. This baby will be the first child for Mike and Zara and the third grand child for the Princess Royal.
From this point out, we will just assume that right after Kate Middleton and Prince William announce a major milestone in their relationship, Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall will follow along in a similar fashion.
Congratulations to Zara Phillips and her husband as they now eagerly await the arrival of their first royal child.
