Matt Barkley is now a married man after he tied the knot with his college sweetheart on Saturday. It looks like Robert Griffin III wasn’t the only NFL quarterback walking down the aisle this past weekend.
The Eagles fourth-round draft pick married Brittany Langdon and he even tweeted out his excitement on Twitter. The 22-year-old USC standout is currently preparing for his first season in the NFL, but that was all put aside this past weekend for his wedding.
He’ll get back to work this week in hopes of tightening the quarterback race in Philadelphia. The Eagles coach, Chip Kelly, hasn’t been too upfront about his starter behind center though Michael Vick seems to be the top choice.
Barkley is also battling for position on the depth chart with Nick Foles, who took over last season after Vick was sidelined by injury. In seven games in 2012, Foles finished with 1,699 passing yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions.
While Foles was making headway in Philadelphia, Matt Barkley was putting together another stellar season for the Trojans. His 36 touchdowns and 3,273 passing yards during his senior season at USC didn’t convince that many NFL teams as three other quarterbacks went before him in the NFL draft.
Nevertheless, Barkley made an immediate impact at organized team workouts this offseason and his stock has been rising ever since.
No matter how many snaps Barkley gets this upcoming season, he’s sure to have a memorable year after getting married on Saturday. Here’s the tweet he sent out to his followers the morning of his wedding.
Wedding Day! Beyond blessed, thankful and excited to marry the girl of my dreams and my best friend. Praise the Lord!

Outside of his comment on Twitter, Barkley has been particularly quite about his personal life unlike many NFL stars today. His focus will now return to the field as his rookie season inches closer.
Do you think Matt Barkley has a bright future with the Philadelphia Eagles?
