Kimi Raikkonen Has Not Decided About His 2014 Season

With rumors circulating about his future, Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen says he hasn’t made up his mind about plans for the 2014 season.

Rumors have suggested that Raikkonen will move to champions Red Bull as Mark Webber steps away from Formula One at the end of the current season.

Kimi Raikkonen is currently listed as third in the standing and is out of contract after the season draws to an end. Raikkonen returned to F1 racing this year and his impressive driving quickly grabbed the attention of various teams.

When asked on the official Formula One website what his future entails, Raikkonen says:

“I have no idea … “I will obviously decide at a certain point but there are still a lot of things that have to be right and good things always take time. I have no deadline.”

Raikkonen spent two years in rallying after he was dropped by Ferrari in 2009 to make way for Fernando Alonso. Kimi was dropped just two years after his world title win with the Italian team.

Kimi is currently one of three drivers who are not members of the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association. The group recently threatened to withdraw from Sunday’s German Grand Prix if the tire explosions witnessed in Britain the week prior were not dealt with.

Following the threat of withdrawal, Kimi Raikkonen said he would race “whatever happens” and that following the race he would announce his 2014 team decision.

Furthering his decision to stick to his own guns, Kimi revealed:

“I want to do what I want. That’s it. Each team is different and you always have good things and sometimes there are bitter pills attached to it. There is no perfect world.”

Where do you think Kimi Raikkonen’s talents would best be served in Formula One racing?
