Man Throws Dog Off Balcony

A Georgia man apparently got so angry at his dog that he threw it off a second story balcony at an extended stay hotel.

Marcell Sibley was caught on camera throwing his Yorkshire terrier off the balcony. After the dog hit the ground, Sibley picked it up and tossed it in a dumpster.

A resident found the dog a few minutes later and called the cops immediately. The dog suffered from spinal injuries and broken bones and it wasn’t clear if it would survive or not.

“The owner of this dog then went downstairs to the pavement where the dog and the kennel were laying, scooped them both up and then went to the trash can and discarded them both in the dumpster,” Officer David Baldwin of the Marietta Police Department said.

When police arrested Sibley later at his home, he reportedly told them that he “snapped and threw the dog off the balcony in the kennel because he was mad at the dog.”

Resident Don Dugan said that he thinks it takes a sick individual to mistreat a little animal. “I don’t care if it’s a dog or cat or whatever,” he said. “I feel it’s the same difference as if it would be a little child, it’s something that can’t help itself.”

Sibley bonded out of jail, but he still faces one to five years in prison for felony cruelty to animals.

This isn’t the first time a dog has been tossed off a balcony. In May 2012, a Chicago woman threw an abandoned puppy off her third-floor balcony and laughed about it.

The dog broke its leg and had difficulty walking afterwards. Jamille Marshall was arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.

When police questioned her, she said that “The Chicago Police Department must have better things to do than worry about a dog.”
