Aaron Hernandez Gets Words Of Encouragement From Snoop Lion

Aaron Hernandez is locked in a jail cell in Massachusetts facing first-degree murder charges, but at least the former New England Patriot has Snoop Lion in his corner.

The rapper posted a picture of himself and Hernandez to Instagram with the caption, “Keep ya head up !! We prayn 4 ya.”

Though the picture got 22,000 likes, the response to Snoop Lion (formerly known as Snoop Dogg) was swift and negative. Most commenters were appalled that he would appear to support someone being accused of murder.

It could be that Snoop Lion remembers himself in the same situation. He was charged with murder (which he covered in the song “Murder was the Case”), but was acquitted.

For Aaron Hernandez, it seems as if it will take a lot more than Snoop Lion’s support to beat the rap. Prosecutors have unveiled a strong case against Hernandez in the murder of his onetime associate Odin Lloyd. They have video of Hernandez in his home with a .45 Glock shortly before the murder, and other surveillance footage shows him driving Lloyd to the park where his body would later be found.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to the murder, but his legal troubles may just be getting started. Boston police are now investigating whether he was connected to a 2012 double murder.

Shortly after he was arrested, the New England Patriots announced they had cut Aaron Hernandez. The Patriots would soon take more steps to erase him from the team’s history, taking down photos of him from official team sites and offering fans a free exchange for Aaron Hernandez jerseys.

Maybe the show of support from Snoop Lion will be heartening for Aaron Hernandez. Since arriving in jail he has been kept in segregation from other inmates, as officials said they feared for his safety. Officials added that he hasn’t had any visitors outside a few meeting with his attorney.
