‘Rise Of The Triad’ Lands Pre-Order Trailer [Video]

Rise of the Triad just blasted away with a pre-order trailer!

The fast-paced remake of the classic ’94 Apogee (then 3D Realms) first-person shooter is slated to hit PC at the end of July, and the developer has released a trailer with a sweet heavy metal background to get us pumped up.

Rise of the Triad was a freeware title that allowed the gamer to play as one of five unique characters with varying attributes such as speed and endurance.

The game follows a team called H.U.N.T. (High-risk United Nations Task-force) as they investigate San Nicolas Island following suspicion of cult activity behind a monastery. Along the way they discover that the cult has destroyed their patrol boat and plans to do the same to Los Angeles. The rest is pretty obvious.

Apogee is offering some freebies alongside the remake of Rise of the Triad, like four additional classic games, the original game with its expansion pack, and the two Black Stone titles. If you don’t want to wait and see if the remake is any good, this sounds like a good deal for pre-ordering.

The Rise of the Triad remake pre-order trailer begins with what look like discs spinning in circular formation in a large metallic tunnel of sorts as an electric beam fires from side to side at the end of it. Then we see a circle of trees from below as we spin away from the bright sky shining through the clearing. Then we see the grayish walls of a temple with glowing green and blue decorations on the ceiling, all against a striking red sunset of sorts. This is followed by what appear to be boxes flying down a glowing white hallway.

Then the heavy metal music kicks in as we see some of the gameplay featuring futuristic guns, laser-spewing robots, hands glowing with power a bit like BioShock, a variety of environments, and even a moment where the player is flipping some guy the bird as he seems to float in a sea of red.

What do you think of the pre-order trailer for Rise of the Triad? Are you planning to get it with all of the extras?
